What made Jack Daniels so special? It was not just his winning reputation; it was his great personality. Jack was a clown, and he put that “stamp” on all of his puppies!
Jack was a FC by the age of three. He was on the VCA top ten for puppy/derby and open gun dog competing at mostly all breed trials. He had 55 major wins in AKC all breed trials and always competed against many of the top dogs in the country. He won the VCA National Championship in 1994 and 1995 and the American Field National Vizsla Association Championship in 1996 and 1997. Jack could compete and win from the east coast to the west. He was known for his style and intensity.
Jack is tied as #4 producer on the All-Time Top Producing Sire of Field Champions Listing and also tied for# 5 producer on the All-Time Top Producing Sire of Amateur Field Champions. In that elite group are 2 VCA NAFC and 5 American Field NFC’s and 1 NAFC. He also produced 3 Duals, 8 FC’s, 6 AFC’s 8 CH’s, 13 JH’s, 3 SH’s, 3 MH’s, 4 CD’s and 1 CDX.
Jack Daniels’ name is in many of the contemporary field dogs’ pedigrees even though he was bred sparingly during his lifetime. I guess that shows that good genes and a “little shot of Jack” goes along way.
Jack loved to run hard and point birds but was more importantly a treasured member of our family.
To me, that is the definition of a great Vizsla.

JACK'S HOF CERTIFICATE
FIELDWAY’S JACK DANIELS HOF OCTOBER 20, 2007
Fieldway's Jack Daniels was inducted to the Hall of Fame at the 2007 VCA National Championship. This is the speach given by Carol Burjan.
"It is actually funny that jack is being inducted the hall of fame here in Nebraska. Linda Kelly, do you remember the last time nationals was in branched oaks? That was quite some time ago. I was a “neubie” to the field trial game then. Daniel was training my dog J.J. and offered to give me another dog. Joe Manning had promised Daniel a puppy, and he had a litter of pups on the field trial grounds, so Daniel told me to pick a puppy! I was lucky enough to pick Jack. He was such a goofy puppy! Later, the older he got the stronger he got. His nickname was “Arnold Swartzenager—he was built!
Jack was a great dog! He was capable of competing in all venues. He won national championships from the east coast to the west. He won the National Vizsla Association National Championship twice and the Vizsla Club of America National Championship twice as well as American Field Championships. His NVA Portraits have hung in the Bird Dog Hall of Fame in Grande Junction, Tennessee. Coincidentally, Grandpa Denes is just around the corner on the Field Trialers Hall of Fame. I am sure he is watching; as anyone who knew Denes knows that he was always watching!
Thanks to my sister Sherry for giving me my first Vizsla and getting me involved in the great breed. That was truly a life changing event. When I got my first dog he was going to live on the porch! Ha, that lasted about 5 minutes. Now I have so many Vizslas I can’t keep count. Daniel reminds me of that frequently! Thanks to Joe Manning and John Frayne for breeding such a great dog and to Daniel for giving him to me and working so hard training him. They were truly a great team. I think anyone who has been successful with dogs whether it is in the show, obedience or field knows that the teamwork between dog and handler are key.
Jack loved to run hard and point birds, but most of all he loved to please you. A very typical vizsla. He was “Jack Jack” to Cody and a treasured member of our family."
