Burjan Kennels was established by Denes and Joyce Burjan in 1958. Denes was born in Chegleg, Hungary in 1938 and his father was a Vizsla trainer. During the “Hungarian Revolution” Denes escaped through Austria to come to America in 1958. After working in New Jersey for a few years Denes “longed” for his precious Vizslas. He purchased his first dog locally then imported his foundation stock from Hungary. Aprod was his first field dog. He began training and breeding Vizslas and eventually became the top winning Vizsla trainer in the United States winning the coveted National Field Championship 12 times.

Second Generation
Daniel Burjan started training dogs when he was 6 years old. Joe Manning used to put him up on his horse so that he could run his dog. Daniel and his father trained dogs as a team for many years until he took the business over from Denes in 1990. Daniel not only excelled at training and campaigning Vizslas, but he is also one of the top German Shorthair Pointer trainers. He has won 10 national championships in the Vizsla breed and 10 national championships in the German Shorthair Pointer Breed. He has finished over 100 field champions and has trained many personal hunting dogs. Daniel trains in the spring and fall in Flemington, NJ and spends winters training in Boston, GA.

Third Generation
Our third generation, Cody Burjan started training dogs at 6 years old as well. Now dad (Daniel) puts him up on the horse! He has won multiple puppy/derby stakes and soon will compete in the “broke dog stakes” as well with his dog Sunny.
